Filta Environmental Kitchen Solutions, who provides environmentally friendly services to over 5,000 locations across the US, has just begun servicing a major arena in Orlando, the LEED Gold Certified Amway Center. The Amway Center, home of the NBA’s Orlando Magic, promised to bring a sustainable arena to Orlando and they have exceeded everyone’s expectations, becoming a top 5 sporting venue according to ESPN The Magazine’s Ultimate Standings. “The Amway Center is a perfect fit with Filta’s vision to support environmental awareness among major entertainment venues.” Tom Dunn, Filta’s COO stated.
The partnership with Filta and the Amway Center proves to be a perfect environmentally sound fit. The Amway Center already has plenty of sustainability practices and functions already built into the arena, like the 5,000 gallon rain water container that is used to self irrigate the grounds. In addition to what the arena is already doing, Filta will take their sustainability practices to the next level with their eco-friendly FiltaFry and FiltaBio services. By using the FiltaFry service, they have already seen a packaging and transportation savings of 125 pounds of cardboard and 186 pounds of plastic, in just one month of service! FiltaBio has had a carbon offset equivalent to planting 576 trees, quite an impact.
As one can see, the Amway Center and the Filta Group form a natural partnership in promoting sustainability practices to arenas, sports stadiums, and most other entertainment venues with commercial kitchens. The FiltaFry service prolongs the useful life of cooking oil, eliminates the risk to employees associated with fryer upkeep, and provides a superior level of food quality. Along with the FiltaFry service, FiltaBio provides waste oil collection and recycling without the traditional collection bin.
